Patricia Oyler is Professor of Library and Information Science at Simmons College. Under the direction of Professor Oyler, the Henry Luce Foundation has awarded Simmons College a $500,000 grant to provide master's level training for librarians from Vietnam. During the 1990s, Dr. Oyler coordinated the Simmons College/Harvard Yenching Institute Scholar Librarians Program where 18 Vietnamese librarians attended Simmons for their master's degree in library and information science. Dr. Oyler remains active in assisting these librarians in developing a library infrastructure for Vietnam and has traveled to Vietnam on continuing education projects for these librarians.
